Sirmaur, often called the "Peach Bowl of Asia," is a serene district in Himachal Pradesh known for its lush orchards, religious significance, and offbeat mountain landscapes. Unlike the busier hubs of Shimla or Manali, it offers a quieter retreat into the Shivalik ranges. Local Cuisine: Try authentic Sirmouri Dham, featuring dishes like Patande (local pancakes), Ainkulu, and Sidu. Plan Your Visit Best Time: March to June for pleasant weather, or September to November for post-monsoon greenery. Getting There: The nearest major airport is in Chandigarh (approx. 80-100 km), and the closest railheads are at Ambala and Yamunanagar. Accommodation: Options range from HPTDC guest houses like Hotel The Renuka to luxury resorts like the recently opened ITC Storii Akanni in Naina Tikkar. Would you like a customised 3-day itinerary focusing on trekking, or are you more interested in a religious tour of the temples and gurudwaras?

About Sirmaur Tourism

The southernmost district of Himachal Pradesh, Sirmaur is as fascinatingly varied as its religious and cultural traditions. Towering over the land at 3647 meters altitude is Churdhar, the highest mountain in all of Shivalik hills. A crumble of many ridges of this dramatic landmass, on a moonlit night, from a distance appear to be like a set of bangles on a brides arm. Sirmaur is spread over a Himalayan zone. River Giri cuts through the district before it merges with River Yamuna near Paonta Sahib. At a fossil park near Nahan, remains of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals dating back to over 85 million years old have been found. Cultural and religious beliefs are centered around local deities with Lord Shiva as Shirgul Devta.
