Sheoganj Sub Post Office

Set up in a vast colonial bungalow by the British because this was a cantonment area. Spacious grounds of more than one acre. This place has lingering memories of our childhood spent here playing in its grounds. Real source of nostalgia for us. We can still hear tik tik sounds of the telegrams being transmitted in the early sixties and seventies. then there was no faster mode of transmission of messages. We had to wait for hours to get through a telephone trunk call through to contact far away people in Bangalore etc. Even 'lightning calls'(so called because it was supposed to go through the speed of lightning) would not get through. Even today it retains the same old charm at least for us who spent our childhood in this beautiful Hamlet called Chawni(cantonment) in shivganj.
