Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK)

Had taken the appointment for passport renewal at POPSK,Chinchwad for the first time (till now always went to Mundwa). I must say that though the setup is very basic compared to Mundwa office (but it's more than sufficient to keep you comfortable), the people handling the process are punctual, polite and efficient. There are dedicated counters for documents verification, biometrics n validation and final granting of passport. The verification personnel was helpful in guiding me to a Xerox shop for getting an e-verified Aadhar copy. The staff is well trained and informative. My work was done in 30 minutes. So if anyone who doesn't want to travel across the city and want to get the work done quickly without minding the ambience, I would certainly recommend this place. My recent experience at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Pimpri-Chinchwad was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my observations to help others who may be considering visiting this facility. First and foremost, the adherence to appointment timelines is severely lacking. Despite having a scheduled appointment, I found myself waiting for an additional 45 minutes before my turn was called. This lack of punctuality not only undermines the purpose of having an appointment system but also adds unnecessary stress to an already simple process. The limited staff at the center exacerbates the situation. With only a handful of personnel available to handle a large volume of applicants, the efficiency of the service is significantly compromised. This shortage of staff contributes to the long wait times and creates a frustrating experience for those seeking assistance. While the facility is equipped with TV screens that are presumably intended to display batch and queue numbers, they were non-functional during my visit. As a result, staff members had to manually announce names, which was not only inconvenient but also chaotic. This lack of effective communication added to the confusion in an already overcrowded waiting area. Speaking of the waiting area, it was overcrowded, with many individuals left standing due to the limited seating arrangement. The discomfort was further amplified by the absence of air conditioning. The heat was stifling, making the wait even more unbearable. To add insult to injury, there was no access to drinking water, which is a basic necessity that should be provided in any public service facility. In conclusion, the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Pimpri-Chinchwad needs significant improvements in its operations. From better adherence to appointment schedules and increased staffing to functional communication systems and basic amenities like air conditioning and drinking water, there are numerous areas that require attention. Until these issues are addressed, I would advise potential visitors to prepare for a frustrating experience.

Going to the Passport Office felt just like being in any other government office, like a bank or post office. The feeling around the place and how the people working there acted was very similar. There was no help desk to ask questions. The people working there didn't seem very willing to help. They did only what they absolutely had to do, and nothing more. It felt like they were just following rules and didn't care much about helping the people who came there.

Oct 2024 updated... Recently I had visited this office for renewal..it was great experience. There are 3-4 counter which initially check your and 1 counter which will check finally. They will call names 1 by 1. It was smooth experience and staff was co-operative. Adhar PVC will not be accepted..u need to get E-verified adhar copy or aadhar card with holagram on it. Parking space is available.

Good option for Pimpri Chinchwad residents. I went for minors appointment for 9.30 am and I was actually called in at 9.15 am by 9.30 the process was complete. Plz carry xerox do not take print out of image. If your documents are in order things will be complete within 15 to 20 minutes. Very cooperative staff. Four wheelers parking on roadside.

April 2024 update: Had a smoothless and hassle free experience here. Entered at 10 AM and by 10:20 we were out finishing all the formalities. Staff was courteous and fast. All documents were checked properly. Seperate dedicated counters are present inside. Rush is very less compared to Mundhwa passport office. There is a spacious waiting lobby inside for relatives/visitors to sit as well. Overall a great experience. We were told you will get a call for police verification within 3 days and we actually got a call in less than 3 days.

This POPSK office service is really fast and good.They have proper arrangements for applicants for seating.Staff is very helpful.I would suggest who is living in PCMC should make an appointment from this office.

Despite their being a television, nothing is displayed there. There is no predictability when your name will be called. You are not attended and just keep waiting. A lot of potential to improve.
