I went for my passport renewal. Like other government offices, it follows the same typical pattern: nothing is well managed; the waiting area is in the parking lot, and they have scattered some chairs around, so people sit in the parking lot.
Apart from that, the staff inside are okay, they try to keep you in the loop, so you're constantly running from one counter to another. For example, the C counter will tell you to go back to the A counter to reevaluate some stuff, even though it is not necessary.
Plus, compared to the last passport office, this one is smaller. The last one had two floors, so we had much more space. This one feels more congested.
I had one of the worst experiences at PSK Patna while applying for a passport under Tatkal. I am writing this so that others are aware of how disorganized and unprofessional the process felt.
On my first visit, the Tatkal counter officer did not explain anything. He simply stretched his hand out, took my documents, and told me to sit. No instructions, no clarity. I waited for around 30 minutes while everyone else got their files back. I was never called. I had to go to the enquiry desk myself just to understand what was happening. Instead of helping properly, I was asked to call two other applicants from the waiting area, as if I worked there.
When I was sent to the APO office, no one clearly explained anything. I was just told to go back to the Tatkal counter for "briefing." There, I was told there was a mismatch in my date of birth. All my documents have the same date of birth. When I politely asked for clarification, I was spoken to in a harsh tone and asked, "Apne likhwaya kyu hai ye phir?" even though I had not written anything. The APO had made notes without even discussing anything with me.
I was also told my bank passbook was not updated and that I needed to add a photo and signature. I immediately went to the bank, updated it, and came back the next day. This time, I was told it was still not updated because a 2026 transaction was not printed. There were no pages left in the passbook, which is why it couldn't be printed further. Instead of explaining properly, another staff member sarcastically said I should have asked for a new passbook. Nowhere on the official portal is this requirement clearly mentioned.
After going back and forth between counters multiple times, I was told I could proceed under "Normal" instead of Tatkal, even though I had paid 3500 for Tatkal processing. By that point, I was mentally exhausted and felt helpless, so I agreed.
Later at another counter, I was suddenly asked for Aadhaar, even though I had not selected Aadhaar as my primary document and no previous counter had asked for it. When I explained that my Aadhaar address is from Jharkhand while I live in Bihar, I was taunted for not updating it, instead of being guided properly.
The most shocking moment was when I was simply told "Ghar jaiye" (Go home) without any clear explanation of what to do next. No written instructions. No clarity.
Throughout this entire experience, the communication was inconsistent and unprofessional. Different counters gave different information. There was no clear guidance. The tone of several staff members was dismissive and sarcastic.
On top of that, there was no proper place for my 54-year-old father to sit while waiting for me. He had to stand outside for nearly three hours.
This is a government office handling important identity documents. People come here anxious and hopeful. The least they deserve is clarity, coordination, and basic respect. Unfortunately, my experience at PSK Patna reflected none of that.
Honestly, I don't even know if writing this review will make any difference. It feels like the system is so rigid and unaccountable that individual feedback may not matter at all. But I still felt the need to share this because no applicant deserves to feel confused, dismissed, and helpless in a place meant to provide essential public services. I genuinely hope the authorities take such experiences seriously and work toward improving accountability, communication, and basic respect for citizens.
I am choosing not to reveal my identity while posting this review because, after this experience, I do not feel confident that applicants are treated fairly when they raise concerns. I hope this feedback is evaluated on its content and not on who is writing it.
Staffs are supportive.
I was here for re-issue of Passport, below documents are required:
- Online Application Receipt
- Original Passport along with self attested photocopy
- Verified color print of Aadhar with self attested (print can be done outside Passport Office at shops)
- In case, spouse name to be added during reissue, Annexure J is mandatory ( Joint photo of Husband-Wife & both should do cross sign, like half sign on form and half on photo: sign to be done by both partner on their joint photo)
Mismanaged and chaotic. Infested with rats. Saw a rat coming out of staff toilet and running around. A few customer facing staff needs to be sensitised on behavioral aspects and customer handling. I applied for the passport 10 years back in Bhopal and that experience was much better than the one I had in Patna. Government offices in Bihar still needs to go a long way.
I had lost my 10th class marksheet but I got it from the CBSE's official website via Post after paying their Fee. So, I want to ask one things that "Is this valid for my Passport Verification, Because there is mention a 'DUPLICATE' on my obtained marksheet". According to my research, this is valid and no problem at all during the verification but Answer if anyone Know
Someone had said that "Your first impression is your last impression".
How can I get my passport cover or 'How can I buy/get a passport cover?' Went here for information.
The guard present near the gate considers himself as he is S Jaishankar. He stopped me and his behavior was not good. He spoke to me very rudely and did not allow me entry. I was thinking of going to counter A or the inquiry counter but he stopped me outside. I had gone there specially from Gayaji Bihar for passport cover. I also visited Regional Passport Office in Patna and they suggested me this place. I recommend them that they should appoint a good staff at the entrance who can explain everything in a good way.
The appointment time is not followed by the staff. I was given appointment for 2.15 pm however I was made to sit for 1 hour in waiting area why? Because the concerned apo who was supposed to check the documents was supposedly gone for lunch for more than 1 hour. Also they ask for additional documents which is no where mentioned in the document advisory. The whole process was tedious and took 4 hours.
I applied for passport, they asked for third identity proof which was nowhere mentioned in the application. Highly useless, non professional & non-cooperative govt employee behaviour was getting reflected. Spoiling the name & fame of Bihar.
Was looking for negative rating.
