I had a very smooth experience at the Passport Seva Kendra, Chandigarh. The security check was quick and hassle-free, and I didn't have to wait long for my turn. The staff was polite, professional, and helpful at every step of the process. The queue system was well-organized, and people were guided properly, which made the entire process efficient and stress-free. Overall, I was impressed with the management and service provided here.

You need to book an appointment online before visiting the Passport Seva Kendra which is located inside the Adarsh Mall. Everything went very smoothly since I had all the documents ready. They also have a photocopy machine available so if you need a print out, you can get it there for 3rupees per page. All the best

The way they have planned, and the way they execute, the process can't be better than this. Amazing stuff!!
After 10 years I went to reapply my PP, and I was left thoroughly impressed with the speed and precision.
Keep it up

I had a very disappointing experience during my recent visit. There was no proper arrangement for people waiting outside--no shade or seating, despite the extreme heat. My wife had to stand in direct sunlight for over 30 minutes, which was very uncomfortable and unacceptable.
In addition, the queue management was chaotic. Even people with earlier appointment times were still waiting inside, causing unnecessary delays. I had previously completed the same passport documentation process here in just 20 minutes, but this time, it was unorganized and stressful.
Another issue was the overpricing by local vendors outside the center. I was charged 120 for a single lemon soda, which is extremely unreasonable. There should be some monitoring to prevent such exploitation.
Overall, the service was poor and not what one would expect from an official government facility. I hope steps are taken to improve basic amenities, queue systems and ensure fair practices around the premises.

Worst service, special mention of worst service and attitude is two men sitting at B counter facing towards C counter . They will not listen just show gunda gurdi, send you to get verified Aadhar which they are aware cafe person will charge 500 per Aadhar. No relaxation/ priority for parents with small kids. Special thanks to folks at A and B counter - they are humble and helpful.

My experience at Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Chandigarh, Adarsh Mall - 3rd Floor, was extremely disappointing and distressing. The behaviour of the government staff, including the manager and the passport processing officer, reflects a serious lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic public service ethics.
I had a valid appointment and my application was fully processed by the TCS staff at the PSK. They accepted my file, took my fingerprints, photograph, and documents, and only after completing all formalities did they forward my application to the passport officer.
At that stage, I was suddenly told--very rudely--that my application could not be accepted because I was "out of jurisdiction."
If my application was genuinely out of jurisdiction, why was it accepted and processed in the first place?
Why were my biometrics and documents taken?
This shows serious negligence and mismanagement by the TCS staff, who should have flagged the issue at the entry level instead of wasting my time, effort, and money.
What made the situation worse was the extremely rude, arrogant, and humiliating behaviour of the passport officer. Instead of calmly explaining the issue or guiding me with a solution, he spoke in a disrespectful manner and created unnecessary tension. This is completely unacceptable from a public servant whose duty is to assist citizens.
When I raised the issue with the manager, I received no constructive help. I was simply told to either:
* go to another jurisdiction, or
* get my file cancelled at the RPO
There was no accountability, no apology, and no attempt to resolve a mistake that was clearly not mine.
More concerning was the overall environment and conduct. The repeated "come tomorrow, we will see" responses felt like intentional delay and harassment, creating an uncomfortable situation for an ordinary citizen. I am not making any direct allegations, but the manner in which the situation was handled raises serious concerns about transparency and ethics.
Eventually, I had to:
* visit the RPO,
* get my file cancelled,
* reapply under the correct jurisdiction
Only then did I finally receive my passport--after unnecessary mental stress, loss of time, and inconvenience, all due to staff inefficiency.
These officials are public servants, paid to serve citizens--not intimidate, harass, or speak rudely to them. The attitude displayed at this PSK is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the Passport Seva system.
Request to Higher Authorities
If any senior official from the Ministry of External Affairs / Passport Office is reviewing this feedback, I sincerely request:
* A serious inquiry into the conduct of the government staff on the 3rd floor, PSK Chandigarh
* Strict action against those responsible for misbehaviour and negligence
* Better training on citizen handling and accountability
I am willing to provide complete details, dates, and evidence to the concerned authorities if contacted officially.
This was one of the worst public service experiences I have ever faced, and I hope this review helps prevent other citizens from going through the same ordeal.

The overall experience was fairly smooth and systematic, taking less than two hours to navigate the process despite several hurdles. On the positive side, the token system is well-organized, and the digital infrastructure--specifically biometrics and data capture--operates with impressive efficiency. The staff, particularly those at the document verification stage, are generally polite and professional, ensuring that renewals and straightforward cases move quickly within clean, well-maintained premises.
However, several bottlenecks persist, most notably the significant wait times even for those with appointments. A major pain point is the lack of clear guidance; instructions on the website are insufficient, and there is no clear visual display of the end-to-end process on-site. The initial verification stage suffered from a critical failure in resource allocation, where a single staff member handling all Tatkal cases created a major slowdown. This was further exacerbated by the photostat machine, which became a significant bottleneck as it caused long queues of people waiting for copies, while a delayed start at the final documentation counter further stalled the momentum of the process.
To bridge these gaps, the facility should prioritize better crowd management and clearer signage to guide the flow of documents between counters. Implementing digital screens that display estimated waiting times would significantly improve transparency. Additionally, ensuring that high-priority segments like Tatkal are adequately staffed and that the photocopying area is streamlined to prevent queues would go a long way in improving the overall efficiency.
