the 18th century, Khandesh was captured by British troops from the Holkar regime with Dhule as the headquarters. Robert Gill was the first officer of British East India Company in the Khandesh District with headquarters in Dhule. In 1906 when Khandesh was divided, east Khandesh became present-day Jalgaon. In 1956 with the reorganization of states, it was included in Bombay state, and with the formation of Maharashtra in 1960, Jalgaon became a district of the state.

Jalgaon district is a district place of Maharashtra State. Jalgaon District was also known as East Khandesh district prior to 1960. And was earlier a part of "Khandesh". According to Abul Fazal, the name Khandesh is derived from the "Khan" title given by Ahmad-I of Gujarat to Malik Nasir,the second of the Faruki kings. According to some sources, the name comes from the khandava forest of Mahabharat.The Mahabharat mentions Yuvanshava, the ruler of Toranmal (Nandurbar district) as fighting with the Pandavas.The rock temples and caves at Nashik and Ajanta show that during the first three centuries AD, Khandesh was under the rulers who patronised Buddhism. Thereafter, it was ruled by Saptavananas, Andhrabhrityas, Virsen (Ahir King), Yawan dynasty, Chalukyas, Yadavs and then Alaud-din Khilji, Mohammad Tughlak, Malik Raja Malik Nazir, the Nizam of Hyderabad, and subsequently the Marathas ruled the region. I have been stranded for 65days from first lockdown.I applied for e pass from pilkhod village (Chalisgaon division) to dombivli (thane) 2 days ago, But still it is pending on the day I have to travel. When I contacted the office personal on phone call, and said I am out of money now since I had only few money left that to for traveling, they said they can't give permission unless u have genuine reason and suggested me to meet collector personally with the relevant documents although I had uploaded the documents online while making the pass.and also Its takes around 3 hrs from my village to collectors office . How can I travel to collector office in lockdown, and how should I tell police personnel that I am going to collector office. In such lockdown situation police are only leaving people who have e pass. I asked office personal that do I have another way to contact collector like office email or anything, they said they don't have any. Administration is not that immediate working, flexible, transperant, sensitive. What I can say is,its a hopeless place with helpless people. This is the reason why people give bribe to police officials on the checkpost to leave them. Main culprits are these officials who make people tend to give bribe.

The email id given is never responded. The mobile number given is always switched off. No response is given to mails posted. All the concerned are highly irresponsible.
