Sikkim Checkpost

We entered Sikkim from West Bengal. At this checkpoint every foreigner has to get a permit who is entering Sikkim and has to get their passport stamped. The whole process is so outdated. I have to give a picture, copy of your passport and India visa. They don't have a scanner, they sent me to a shop which was hard to find. Once I got copies and picture, they then sent me to a different location to now get the passport stamped. Luckily there were only two foreigners, folks told us a lot of foreigners come here from Nepal and Bangladesh so usually there is a long line and takes hours. In this day and age, they are not digital and take entries in a document by hand typing it.

Foreigners: If you already got your permit from Bagdogra airport or Darjeeling, go directly to counter 4 (located after the gate). There is no need to stop at the first office. Very quick

Even with a permit obtained in Darjeeling, you still need a photocopy of passport, visa page and photo. You will visit two different counters on both sides of the border. No money needs to be paid, it's for free.

Nice location on the river side. we have to get a permit from here to enter into sikkim state we have to show vehicle documents and pay nominal entry fee here to get a permit for visiting days in the state of sikkim.you must fulfill requirements for vehicle and driver enter into sikkim. Tourist facilitation centre also there to assist tourists coming to sikkim.it works round the clock. Public toilets also available there
