Jaynagar Majilpur Municipality

Jaynagar Majilpur Municipality is one of the oldest municipalities of west bengal.It was established on 1st April in 1869.Many famous personalities were born in this municipality.The office of this municipality situated near Jaynagar majilpur railway station.

An urban local body which is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city. This civic administrative body was established in 1 April 1869. It is one of the oldest municipal corporations in the whole country.

Joynagar Mazilpur is one of the oldest municipal town in Baruipur Sub - Division of South 24 Parganas District and the Joynanagr Mozilpur Municipality was established in the year 1869. The town is well connected with Kolkata by Road and Rail. The town has good linkage with the surrounding and villages by road communications. The Municipality is bounded by Uttar Durgapur GP in the northern side, Futigoda,Sreerampur GP in the Southern side, Sripur & Sahazadapur GP in the eastern side and south Bishnupur GP in western side. The train service was first introduced from Sealdah to Joynagar Majilpur Station in the year of 1882, 10th July.

Established in 1 April 1869; 150 years ago .......oldest municipality being established in west bengal.....famous for its "Jaynagar er moya" a bengali sweet famous worldwide....but the government has not taken steps in improving the moya industry...if the government would have taken steps for its exportation as it could serve as a income to huge number of people... the area is becoming very congested. ...the government should take care of the area ..transportation should be improved as the local trains only serve as the only means of direct transport between kolkata and jaynagar..

It's the oldest Municipality in the Baruipur sub division of south 24 pgs District. You can notice old architecture in the building. This is the pride of the locals.
