It's truly disappointing that a government office has no power backup or generators. Long queues and appointments keep piling up, yet it's been over an hour without electricity. In a metro city like Surat, the lack of such a basic facility in government offices is a real shame and reflects poor management.

Pal RTO (Regional Transport Office) is the primary vehicle registration and licensing hub for Surat City, Gujarat. Located near the Tapi River, it is formally known as the RTO Surat (GJ-05) and recently began using the GJ-28 series for new registrations.

Please bring Xerox and Original of passport if available. Aadhar is not considered proof of Birth date. Xerox over here is 10Rs per page. So best get all documents xeroxed. Lunch break is 2PM-3PM so come accordingly and don't waste your time.

It's been more than 11 days and still I have not got my registration number. Even the telephone no mentioned here is wrong. Services are not upto the mark.

I recently visited the Pal RTO office in Surat for vehicle registration and to apply for a driving license, and I'd like to share my experience to help others planning a visit. The office is located in a relatively well-connected area and is easy to find using Google Maps. There's enough parking space outside the premises for two-wheelers, but four-wheeler parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours. The building itself is modest but functional. The process inside, like most government offices, is a mix of order and chaos. While some counters are well-managed and the staff seem experienced, others can be slow, with long waiting times and unclear instructions. A lot depends on your paperwork if your documents are complete and in order, the process is smoother. Having an agent or prior online application definitely helps speed things up. One thing that stood out was the lack of clear signage and information boards. Many first-timers were confused about where to go or what the process involved. There is a help desk, but it could be more proactive. Hygiene and cleanliness inside the building are average and could be improved. Overall, the Pal RTO works eventually but patience and preparation are key. I recommend reaching early in the day and doing as much as possible online before your visit.

No time value, for LL test there is a server which is down everytime I am coming here since five days...they always says that server is down...in the generation of AI the government don't have any working website
