India Post - Bengaluru General Post Office

Heritage architectural building from 1860's with spacious premises. All types of services provided by India Post in Karnataka are available here. Parking is free for post office visitors. Visited Philatelic Bureau which is open till 4 or 5pm, which is inside the GPO itself.

I visited this post office for philately. There is free parking available inside. Note the timings in the picture attached. It's not 24hrs for philately department. It's from 10am to 6pm, but service might close earlier around 5pm, so plan to come early!). The entrance has few steps to climb. I did see a chairlift for people who can't climb. Though I'm not aware if it worked or not. There's a nice garden in the front, but no place to sit other than the huge steps. The ambience inside philately section is amazing. It gives a modern feel to aged era. They have lot of collections on display. You can view the stamps, miniature sheets at one counter (Manju Bhargavi Mam) and post cards,fdcs, special covers at another (Dileep Sir). Both of them were very cooperative and showed all the collections available with lot of patience. We can manage our and their time by going to counter which is free so as to allow the occupied counter time to finish their current work. It would be nice to have a chair placed for philatelists to sit and view the postcards, fdcs or wait while they complete with current customer (similar to stamp section where there are 2 chairs). The billing could get slow if there are many people. So please be patient to wait for your turn. I had a great experience and would love to visit again. Thank you Manju Bhargavi Mam and Dileep Sir!

Excellent service. I contacted GPO to know about my failed online txn. The lady gave me correct contact number. When I contacted the given number, they resolved my problem with 3-4 minutes. I never expected such a fast and prompt response. Post Office Service has changed. I could close my TD account and open SCSS account completely ONLINE. I never expected. Thanks a lot.

This is a very huge PO. They accept international parcels. There are lot of people and more than 13 counters. Staff is helpful, even though there are so many people. There is a token system, we need to press a button to get token. Once you receive token you have to wait to go to specified counter displayed on screen. International parcels have tracking system available. Charges are separate based on normal or speed post and also depends on country. Be prepared to wait if there are more people.

I am writing to bring to your notice the inconvenience I faced at the parcel counter of the GPO, Bangalore branch. I visited the branch to send a parcel through Speed Post. At the counter, the staff informed me that the parcel needed to be fully covered with tape before it could be accepted. I was then directed to the packing department. At the packing department, the staff member asked me to wait for about half an hour or more for my turn. I requested her to provide me with tape so that I could pack the parcel myself and pay the applicable charges, but she refused and insisted that I wait and pay 80 for the packing service. I was quite surprised, as the Speed Post charge for my parcel was only 40, while the packing charge was 80. I have sent parcels many times before, but I have never faced such an issue. This experience at the GPO branch was very disappointing. I request the concerned authorities to kindly look into this matter and take appropriate action to improve the service for customers.

I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by the Post Office.The waiting time is unnecessarily long, and even after standing in line for hours, simple tasks are delayed or mishandled. There is a serious lack of professionalism and efficiency in the way the office is managed. Overall, the service is unreliable and frustrating.

What a great post office in India .24 hours hours. Very fast system and best employee of post office could work at here. Post office Bank, Post office service, and IPO offline purchase and many more facilities at here .. Fantastic a demo to all world. Need to learn and implement this system at every Post office.

Coming here for the first time and such a stunning heritage building the GPO is housed in. My rating is mostly for the ambience and the delightful philately section. It's incredible to see all the new and limited edition stamp series. I needed a new envelope for my letter and it was impossible to get one in the PO, I think it would be a great idea to have a mini stationary store or something, because there is nothing around the area. Else from a service perspective, folks are run of the mill or unbothered, except for Swarnalakshmi who was in the stamps section today and really considerate.
