I went to surrender my passport morning 9am and the entire process took over 6 hours, which is completely unacceptable. The system is extremely slow, outdated, and poorly managed, resulting in a massive waste of time for applicants. There is no efficient or streamlined process in place, and the service experience is frankly frustrating and boring. Anyone planning to use this office should ensure all applications are completed online in advance and bring photocopies of every required document to avoid unnecessary delays. There are people sitting outside the office offering paid assistance to help write letters or explain the submission process, which itself highlights how inefficient and confusing the official system is. Overall, the service standards are very old, painfully slow, and in urgent need of modernisation. This office must seriously improve its processing speed and customer service.

My mother recently applied for renewal of her passport at the Passport Office, Kochi. The entire process was quick, smooth, and well organized. Despite being a normal application, the passport was issued much faster than expected. Highly appreciate the efficiency and professionalism of the team.

My experience at the Regional Passport Office Kochi was extremely frustrating and disappointing. The surrender passport service is available only on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, which is already inconvenient. I was clearly told to arrive before 9 AM to get a token and finish early, so I reached at 8:30 AM, yet token distribution only began around 9:30 in a completely chaotic and disorganized manner. Even after waiting nearly six hours, applicants with token numbers after mine were processed before me, and I was repeatedly asked to return after 2 PM and then again after 3 PM. The staff appeared unprofessional, poorly coordinated, and showed little regard for people's time. To make matters worse, there is supposedly an option to book appointments online, but it simply does not work, if the system isn't functional, it shouldn't be displayed at all. At the very least, the website should be efficient and reliable. It's no surprise that people hesitate to deal with such government offices; the entire experience feels unnecessarily stressful. I am completely disappointed with how such offices are being managed across Kerala.

Even if you try to get a passport a thousand times, it's still difficult to get one.When my 85-year-old grandfather went to the Thrissur passport office to get a passport, they said there was no proof that he was born in this country. When I tried to renew it with my Aadhaar card, they wouldn't let me. The lady said she was going to Kochi. The passport was for Hajj.Thrissur is a lady without conscience who keeps telling me that I need a marriage certificate and should show it to my grandfather.

Worst experience ever... it is mentioned that office hours are upto 5:30 in online site. I reached here by 12:40 and they are not giving token for inperson appointment after 12:30. why can't you guys mention open hours as upto 12:30 you are wasting others time

Had a really good experience at the Kochi Passport Office. The staff were super helpful and friendly -- they guided me from start to finish without any confusion. Everything was well-organized and smooth. Really appreciate their support. No complaints at all!

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service I am writing this review based on a very frustrating experience trying to contact the Cochin Passport Office regarding my mother's passport renewal, which is being processed from abroad. There has been a delay because the police clearance documents -- which were already sent by the concerned police station -- have not been received by the passport office. To get clarification, I tried calling the office several times without success. After many attempts, one staff member finally answered on June 19, 2025, at 3:56 PM, but unfortunately, the call was abruptly disconnected during the conversation without providing any information. I immediately tried calling again, but my calls were not answered after that. Is this the proper way to treat an applicant, especially in a case involving urgent overseas documentation? The lack of communication and accountability is deeply concerning. Applicants deserve basic courtesy and proper guidance -- especially when dealing with important documents like passports.
