Regional Transport Office Sholinganallur

I did my re-registration from Telangana to Tamil Nadu recently for my EV vehicle recently. Process and the documents needed were laid out clearly and times you have to walk to this office depends on your need. It took around 2 months to complete the re-registration process and also, I have to take it to motor vehicle inspection. Since it was EV vehicle, there was no road tax required per government policy and I had to pay only the required government fees. Everything was transparent. Don't ever fall prey to money hungry agents, this office is transparent and you can do it yourself for all your rto needs.

Typical Government office Digital India / developing India is a joke Even though all applications are done online They still need papers and forms It's high time all office goes paperless Place located on first floor pretty congested always Have to park in nearby streets Without driving school help you will made to run around in circles Driving test gets done at 8.30 in morning at a different location By 11 one needs to come here to get photographed and sign the licence Photograph background is RED or BLUE so dress accordingly After being photographed It takes 1 hour to 2 hour to get the licence Good thing is this place has waiting area and chairs No one is happy to answer any query All the staff will show a face before answering the query so much so for so called government servants

This place can be easily located. Good Govt Office. I went there for interstate transfer. Officers are behaving politely. Paper checking , vehicle inspection etc are done without taking much time. Now I'm waiting for the new registration mark. In case of you forgot the Xerox, you can take it from the ground floor. The only downside i felt is about the location. It would have been better if this place has enough facility to park the cars. Because it's located on small service road. Still you can park your vehicle on the road near to the pollution test center.

If you go through a driving school, rest of the processes in RTI are smooth. Everything is online and services are super fast. Immediate, instant acknowledgement through SMS regarding your services status, information update are available. Went for renewal and after the forms are submitted, received SMS acknowledgement next minute. Pleasantly surprised with the efficiency. Govt services are getting there.

I did my registration change from KL to TN last year... Process was super smooth, each and every staff at the office were very clear with the process and guided me at each step (Note: based on the requirement number of RTO visits may change, that the process and be prepared for this unavoidable steps). With few visits I was able to do the complete RC transfer in a month's time. Police clearance certificate obtaining from nearby Sholinganallur SP office was a bit hectic as the did not accept my NOC obtained from Kerala RTO via ONLINE and they asked for all the documents like RC, insurance, pollution certificate and a letter from local RTO, etc., to issue local Police NOC. I wish, TN RTO accepts police NOC obtained online rather than requesting for local police NOC. Note: For all your RTO services, reach the staffs directly and don't fall prey with the greedy agets/brokers. Overall a good service from Sholinganallur RTO.

Except a person in entrance none of them didn't even bother to speak patiently. They are totally not ready to handle their customers. Went there for removing hypothecation, just because of the person in entrance felt comfortable else it is very difficult to handle such a group of attitudes. Process was smooth that I just gave form 35,NOC, original RC, Emission certificate and paid 25. I was asked to come after a week. Emission certificate is mandatory and you can get it in nearby pollution test center.

Very crowdy located on a busy road. So it's in the middle of traffic. No toilet, no lift, no wheel chair accessibility for public. This is also like any other government offices. Mostly Even ceiling fan won't work. Again I'll go there only there is compulsory necessity. This is a place which we normally don't like to go. This place gives lot of information about road rules and traffic decipline.

Comparatively Responsive Office.. *Check Photos below (last 4) for Required documents & Procedures* On 1st Floor PRO at front desk - Assists with checking documents - Xerox & Computer Centre is next - Application Receiving - 10am to 12.30pm - Dispatch 3pm to 5pm (Collecting approved certificates) - Good Seating area - First come first serve Cons: - Not a disabled friendly office structure - Even after intro of online system, takes a week to provide certificates - Very poor lighting inside the office, almost always dark - No Restroom (I didn't notice any signs, but didn't ask as well)
