I had a 2 PM slot and reached at 1:40 PM. Do not arrive more than 30 minutes before your scheduled time. Once you enter the gate, security will ask for your slot and direct you to the basement parking area. You will form the first set of lines near the xerox shops. There are usually 5 to 6 lines for people who are half an hour to one hour before their slot. Be very patient. If you are carrying a shoulder bag, phone, laptop or Apple Watch, you must deposit them at the xerox shop before going upstairs. They charge 50 rupees. After going up to the ground floor, you will enter a smaller room with three rows. This is the second set of lines, which then moves to the third set of lines. The next section has about 10 rows with 10 people each. They call 10 people at a time to go to another floor. There you will stand in another line with around 20 to 30 people. Security will check your passport and DS-160. After that, your documents will be reviewed twice. Keep your DS-160 and latest passport ready and make sure your DS-160 has no issues. Next, you will be asked to stand in another line for biometrics and the photo. The entire process takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. Patience is very important. Avoid unnecessary conversations with the staff. They are not helpful and can be rude. If you do not know Tamil, avoid trying to talk unless needed. Do not book a flight, bus or train for the evening. Book something late at night instead. We missed our train because of the delay. Be prepared to stand for about 3 hours in total. Good luck. Also, avoid taking the auto rickshaws in front of the VAC center. They charge very high fares.

US Biometrics Center offers a smooth and well-organized appointment experience. The staff are professional, courteous, and guide applicants clearly through each step. The process is efficient, with minimal waiting time and proper queue management. The premises are clean, secure, and well-maintained. System kept for biometric is standard. Make sure to reach one hour prior to the scheduled appointment. Don't take any electronic items like mobile, watch, e-rings,etc., even Water bottle is not allowed (keep everything in your car or give it to friend or relative who is accompanying you). Best to have some water before entering the queue. It takes around one hour for the process to complete. No parking space near the location so thats a hassle you have to manage on your own.

1 hour wait on the street. People are walking in and out of queues. Crowd management is poor. People walk in and out of queues. No clarity on what to do. All the above is when you are waiting outside. If its raining you are basically screwed. There a re some apartments that provide chairs to sit (30 rs to sit on chair) No parking is available. Once you get inside the building its better. You can use the locker facility in the ground floor Xerox Shop.

Took lot of time more than an hour for 10:15am appointment in reaching to dropbox counter. Only one counter was open. Applicable for B1/B2 Visa renewal ------------------- 1. Photo is mandatory. 2. Old and new Passport you have to carry. 3. DS 160 Color or black n white. 4. Confirmation page. If you miss to carry all of them ofcourse not the Old and New Passport. Then you can get the print downstairs in basement including your 2x2 Photo also.

USA BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT ON 13/01/2026 We (2adults 2infants) had a biometrics appointment at US biometric centre at 9am. On initial checking, officer told us that there was an error in entering our names on DS 160, So we were sent to the browsing centre which is in ground floor where they helped us fill out the new ds160. It just took us 20 mins more. And then the process was seamless and biometrics was over in 10 minutes.

I completed my VAC appointment at the Chennai center in about 45 minutes. My scheduled time was 1:30 PM, but I reached around 12:45 PM. The staff did not check or ask about the appointment time; instead, we were simply asked to join the queue. It took approximately 20 minutes to reach the first counter, where they verified my confirmation number, DS-160, and passport. After verification, I proceeded to the next counter, where they placed a sticker with a barcode on my passport and scanned it. From there, I moved on to the biometric section. The waiting time was about 5-7 minutes, and the biometric process itself was completed in less than 30 seconds. They did not ask for a photograph, as they clicked one on the spot. Since mobile phones or electronics are not allowed inside, I had to use the locker facility on the ground floor, which cost 50.
