DIB Office / Passport Verification

It is a busy place. You need to carry your documents very carefully. Keep a copy of every document with you. The wait time is not very long but keep at least an hour with you when you visit. Don't try to rush things. Patience is required. Everybody is helpful.

I have been waiting to get the verification done since 3-4 weeks. My father follows-up with them almost everyday and they are giving different excuses every time and NOT taking things seriously. This is very important at this point for my career. 500 bucks has been given but if they want more, they should ask for it instead of harassing civilians. Feeling helpless

Okay, with the place environment, toilets are there, but so clean but usable. Parking area is not bigger, can park 2-3 cars and 6-7 bikes, that's all about the place, silent and calm place.

Government office. Don't expect too much. But more than satisfactory. If want to share my personal experience, officers were well and good in behaviour with me and other employees. Now if about traveling, it is near square field, so near to "Girja More". You might have searched it for your passport verification purposes, Yaa, go and have your own experience. Thanks.

Very poor experience. Me and my mother was asked to sit in a rest room by somebody called inquiry officer, though his get up( wearing slippers in cargo pant and cheap t-shirt) and his attitude were very different from an educated one. He was asking various questions like do u know someone from police dept. And telling us unnecessary things. Infact he seemed like doing us a favour by issuing the passport. I am not sure but his attitude showed he was about to ask for money. So all-over it was a horrible experience of visiting a government official.

I would say good in this case, because I went for my child's PVR, got good behaviour, above all there is one important thing to say, "no bribe", really facing good onduty policemen.

Had to visit DIB office, Berhampore on four to five occasions for police verification as we have applied for re-issue of our passports. Earlier the officials used to ask for money openly. Either you fall in line or be ready for harassment and delay in verification process. You produce all necessary papers, but that doesn't meet the requirement. Now the system has improved a bit. I am waiting for the time when we will be asked to upload relevant documents and we need not visit the office at all. Just like passport seva kendras (PSK), where system has improved by engaging educated and efficient professionals, the police verification offices should also be handled by educated professionals. It must be made corruption-free.
